Aventura Lodge is a stunning hotel in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua, where we invite you to escape into our world of boutique adventure, and do as much or as little as you want.
A lush jungle garden is the setting for our intimate hotel. Our tropical canopy provides an oasis in which to relax, be it by the refreshing swimming pool, swinging in a hammock or on our shady patio.
Our outdoor bar and BBQ area provides an ideal place to wind down in after an active day in the surf, and we have a small spa where we can arrange for massages and treatments while you listen to the sounds of nature and our cascading waterfalls.
Wi-fi Internet is available throughout the hotel and cable TV, air-con and hot water are available in all Jungle Rooms and in the Canopy Apartment.

Be Captain for a day! With our 23” panga boat you can explore the coast on your schedule. Our experienced staff will create a unique experience geared to your needs. You may choose to swim in a secluded beach, snorkel in a quiet cove, or go after the perfect surf!

Zip through the trees. Da Flying Frog Canopy Tour located in the hills overlooking San Juan del Sur allows you to zip through the tree tops and see nature in a different way. Enjoy a breathtaking view of the bay.
Climb a volcano. Mombacho Volcano located 1 hour north of San Juan del Sur has medium level hiking trails that winds around its crater. The cloud forest on top of this long-dormant volcano is home to many plants and animals unique to this location.
Visit the Island of Ometepe. This unique island, made up of two volcanoes in the middle of Lake Nicaragua, is an exciting excursion that you will never forget. Ride the ferry from San Jorge to the island and explore a different side of Nicaragua.

Eating & Drinking
El Colibri is a charming Mediterranean style restaurant set in a beautiful garden. The owners are lovely people, dedicated to creating top quality food in a unique space.
Pizzeria San Juan is definitely the place to get your pizza and pasta fix. Just off the main square, it's a very popular spot with a selection of Italian wines.
El Gato Negro is generally regarded as the best place to enjoy a delicious organic coffee with tasty food in relaxed surroundings. It has an excellent selection of international books for sale - a rare find in this part of the world.
Barrio Cafe is another fantastic coffee shop that has a more airy and open feel. Located in the centre of town, it's a great place to sip a tasty latte and do some people watching. It serves up tasty breakfasts and lunches to go with the lovingly created coffee.
The Market has a selection of restaurants inside that offer good quality local food at bargain prices. The service is very quick, so it is a good choice when you are particularly hungry.
Street food is also a good option. There are some great eateries that are set up on the streets in the evenings, serving up meat and rice based dishes. There is one opposite Casa Oro and at a few other spots around town. A fantastic way to fill up for 2 or 3 dollars.
Piedras y Olas (Pelican Eyes Resort) is a great place to sit back with a mojito in hand and watch the spectacular San Juan del Sur sunset. Normally it's quite an expensive option, but come here on Mexican Night on Monday (6-9pm) or Happy Hour on Wednesday and Friday (4-8pm) to enjoy 2 for 1 drinks and bar snacks.
Henry's Iguana Bar is set right on the beach and is San Juan del Sur's hottest night spot. It kicks off on a Friday and Saturday night, when it's open til 2am, and has a great mix of locals, foreigners and weekenders from Managua. It's also a good option during the day for food and drinks.
Republika Bar is a great place to meet fellow travelers and enjoy a night of drinking, watching football or playing Jenga. The delightful owners, Mandy and Corey will make you feel right a home and Corey is an expert surfer and has great advice on the best breaks.
Bambu Beach Club is on the northern end of the beach and is a cool bar with a pool and good food. It has a large outdoor screen for movie nights.
The Pier is a top choice for a relaxed sunset drink, with deck chairs and hammocks on the beach, and selection of juices, beers and cocktails. BBQ nights here are also popular.

Aventura Lodge is located in the beautiful town of San Juan del Sur in the south of Nicaragua on the Pacific coast. We are just 1km (0.6 miles) from the town centre. If you are coming from Rivas, just before you enter San Juan del Sur take the first left after Pali Supermarket. We are a further 500m on the left.
We can organize transfers to or from Granada, Managua or anywhere in fact.

"Great value"
the hotel is very neat. As soon as you enter, you feel as though you've entered a little oasis. The rooms are very comfy and clean. The bed was good too. The hotel managers are very informative, helpful, and sweet. My only concern upon arriving was the cemetery across the street, but I got over it after the first night.... more
“Beautiful retreat, fantastic pool and great service"
I stayed in the treehouse, which was considerably cheaper than the rooms and really good value. The breakfasts were simple but good and the pool was wonderful.
